In the 1960s and -70s bands like Sweeneys Men or Planxty made the greek bouzouki popular in Folk music. Soon it developed into the Irish Bouzouki with a flattend corpus of a cittern. Instead of the strings originally tuned in C, F, A, and D, the usual tuning changed to GDAD and ADAD. GDAE tuning like on mandolins and violins is also common.
Besides typical Irish Bouzoukis, Folkfriends has introduced their own variant - the bouzouki-cittern. They have a corpus with more volume and a broader fret board. Thus we bridge the gap from greek to irish folk to the RenFair music szene, which was an important source of inspiration for our bouzouki-citterns.
