Dudelsack spielen (with CD)
While bagpipe playing spread across all Europe, long did it wait for a comprehensive textbook on the bagpipes. With its typical French fingering they are - along with the Highland Bagpipes - certainly the most popular bagpipes at all!
All basic playing techniques are well explained in the first part of the course and a variety of exercises provide the student with ample opportunity to practice what they have learned. The melodies used in the book are selected for exactly the right degree of difficulty. They consist not of standard repertoire, but give the musician the knowledge that he/she will use later on when performing. The included companion CD with 99 exercise tracks also illustrate the techniques taught in the first part of the course with short, sound samples.
In the second part of the course, the author goes beyond the usual ornamentation techniques and explains in detail how to execute well-known Scottish ornaments on bagpipes of this type.
